Revision

Let's  take  a  Revision .

Exercise 1 ) Identify the parts of speech:-
(each and every words)

1) Sheeta and Geeta are close friends of Reeta.

2) Wow! It is a great shot.

3) He ran fast.

Exercise 2) Convert the following sentence into remaining Tenses:-

Exa. I learn English Grammar.

Exercise 3) Change the Voice:-

a) I am cutting  vegetables.

b) He will have solved the problem.

c) She watched TV.

d) We have bought the books from the marcket.

e) Shital sings a song.

f) Swara will play Chess.

g) My friend was helping the poor.

h) PM had announced the Lockdown.

i) Keep the distance.

a) He decided to become a Doctor.

b) I am a teacher.

c) She plays a vital role in this tournament.

d) They will have found the job.

Interrogative Sentence

While making Interrogative Sentence we have to follow some rules:-

1) Start the Sentence with 'helping verb'.
(While doing this , if the given sentence is in positive form, use negative helping verb and vice-versa.)

2) Write the remaining sentence as it is.

3) Place the question mark ( ?) at the end of the sentence.

Exa. 1) He is a brilliant boy.

Ans. Isn't he a brilliant boy ?

2) She will join the class.

Ans. Won't she join the class ?

3)PM has announced the 4th Lock-down.

Ans. Hasn't PM announced the 4th Lock-down ?

**Important:-

1) In Simple Present Tense we have to use do/does (+ve) and don't/doesn't (-ve) helping verb.

Exam. a) I support my followers.

Ans. Don't I support my followers ?

b) He thinks brilliantly.

Ans. Doesn't he think brilliantly ?

2) In Simple Past Tense we have to use did / didn't as a helping verb and use simple present (V1) form of the given simple past (V2) verb.

Exam. a) They won the match.

Ans. Didn't they win the match ?

b) We admired the best player.

Ans. Didn't we admire the best player ?

Add a question tag

How to 'add a question tag' ?

Rules:-

1) Write the given sentence as it is.

2) Place comma (,) after it.

3) Use helping verb / auxiliary verb after it.

Note:- If the given sentence is in negative form use positive tag and vice-versa.

4) Take subject in form of pronoun.

5) Place question mark ( ? ) at the end of the sentence.

Exa. 1) Learning Grammar is the best way to help speaking english.

Ans. Learning Grammar is the best way to help speaking english, isn't it?

2) They will find the job.

Ans. They will find the job, won't they?

3) I shall drink coffee.

Ans. I shall drink coffee, shun't I ?

4) Give me your email address.

Ans. Give me your email address, will you?

5) Let's go to the Picnic.

Ans. Let's go to the Picnic, shall we ?

Important :-

1) Use do/does  or  don't / doesn't in Simple Present Tense.

Exa. a) I bring a book.
Ans. I bring a book , don' t I?

b) Sheeta eats fruit.
Ans. Sheeta eats fruit, doesn't she?

2) Use did / didn't  in Simple Past Tense.

Exa. Teacher taught very well.
Ans. Teacher taught very well , didn't she/ he ?

3) Use tag 'will you ?'  in imperative sentence.

Exa. Don't miss the chance.
Ans. Don't miss the chance, will you ?

4) Use  tag   'shall we ?' when imperative sentence start from  ' Let's '.

Exa. Let's start the game.
Ans. Let's start the game, shall we ?

Infinitive & Gerund

Use of Infinitive and Gerund :-

Infinitive ( to + V1 ) and Gerund ( V4 )  are the forms of verb which use in the sentence as a noun so it is always subject or object part of the sentence.

a) Examples of Infinitive :-

1) I like to play  cricket.

2) To play cricket is my hobby.

b) Examples of Gerund :-

1) I like playing cricket.

2) Playing cricket is my hobby.

From the above examples we come to know that Infinitive and Gerund are used in the sentence by replacing to each other.

Exa. Swara likes to sing a song.                                    ( Use Ground form of verb )

Ans :- Swara likes singing a song.

Note :- Infinitive and Gerund are also used to make 'Simple Sentence', as -

Exa. I like to watch TV.  It is my hobby.
                ( Make Simple Sentence )

Ans:- Watching   TV  is  my  hobby.

Articles ( рдЙрдкрдкрджे )

There are two types of Articles :-

1) Definite Article (рдиिрд╢्рдЪीрдд рдЙрдкрдкрдж )
2) Indefinite Article (рдЕрдиिрд╢्рдЪिрдд рдЙрдкрдкрдж )

1) Use of  Definite Article ( the ) :- 

Article  'the'  is used before.......

* The Unique part / things  of the Universe:-

Exa. The Sun, The Moon, The Earth,T The Sky, etc.

* The Superlative Degree :-

Exa. The best, the stongest, the biggest, the most beautiful,etc.

* The Holy Books:-

Exa. The Ramayana, The Geeta, The Mahabharata, The Bible, The Quran,etc.

* The Names of News Paper:-

Exa. The Hindu, The Lokmat, The Times of India, The Loksatta, etc.

* A common noun when it is used as uncommon one :-

Exa. I saw a man. The  man  was a Doctor.

* The family names :-

Exa. The Gandhis, The Neharus, The Kalams, The Bhosles,etc.

* The Names of Ocean :-

Exa. The Pacific Ocean, The Indian Ocean, The Atlantic Ocean, etc.

2) Use of  Indefinite Articles ( a, an ) :-

a) Use of Article  'a' :-

Article 'a'  is used before a singular  common noun which start from consonant  having  consonant sound.

Exa. a book, a pen, a bag, a fan, etc.


## Exception:-
                    If a singular common noun start from vowel   having consonant sound , we have to use article  'a'  before it. 

Exa. a University,  a European person,
etc.
 (Find another such examples.)

b) Use of Article  'an' :-

Article  'an'  is used before a singular common noun which start from Vowel having  vowel sound.

Exa. an apple, an orange, an ox, etc.

## Exception :- 
                     If a singular common noun start from consonant  having vowel sound,  we have to use article 'an' before it. 

Exa.  an hour , an honest person , etc.
